Network and Media Laboratory Research Engineer (Video)
DOCOMO Communications Laboratories USA, Inc. is seeking a research engineer to conduct research in image and video processing and compression. The candidate should have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with a very strong research and publication record. Excellent mathematical skills with expertise in image/video processing and compression are required. The candidate should also have in-depth knowledge of video compression standards and posses outstanding programming skills.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in a strong team, making contributions to the overall aims of the video project (http://www.docomolabs-usa.com/lab_nml_video.html) and will be developing state-of-the-art signal processing and compression algorithms, prototyping these algorithms in C/C++ and other languages, writing research articles for scientific conferences and journals, and seeing through the development of next generation multimedia systems from conception to deployment. The position requires a self-starting individual with strong interpersonal, analytical, and logical skills. A demonstrated ability to develop a research vision and propose innovative solutions to identified problems is a must.
DoCoMo USA Labs is part of the NTT DOCOMO group of companies, the premier wireless service provider in Japan. The Lab is located in Silicon Valley and conducts research in next generation networks, wireless access, mobile terminal software and applications.
