Infrastructure innovation is a long-term research domain targeting the creation of novel and fundamental architecture concepts and technologies in wireless and networking beyond 4G access and the All IP network. The service possibilities created via these emerging technologies are unlimited and extremely exciting. Considering how new business and service scenarios could manifest over the new infrastructure framework is a vital part of our infrastructure research activities. We are pursuing exciting and highly dynamic research on top of elemental research with the aim of developing models of service operation that will be enjoyed by a new wirelessly-connected community.

We contribute to public scientific literature and international standards, anticipating to be a fundamental resource in creating new infrastructure solutions, as well as to enhance the existing mobile network of DOCOMO. We collaborate with the DOCOMO R&D Center of Japan and several other prestigious research centers and universities in North America. DOCOMO USA Labs provides an ideal advanced industrial research environment for infrastructure innovation enabling a close interaction between all aspects of wireless technology, networks, and computing research activities.
